P_6 Summer Landscape Painting

Many effects can be applied to a mask.  We will keep it simple for this tutorial.  I use the Digital variant of the Airbrush at lower sizes to do almost all of my work on masks.  If you remember that White will erase the mask and Black will add to it, you should not have any problems adding to or removing parts of any mask.

I set the Size slider to 2.0 in the Controls:Brush palette.  At random I begin to erase the grass until I locate some rocks that I want to show thru.  I switch to Black when I can see the canvas showing thru and fill the grass back in.  This is what my rocky field looks like (21).

Load the Light Big Top-1 nozzle (also located in Grass 2), set the Nozzle Scale to 50%.  Create a new layer and name it 4-Grass.  Paint in some grass until you have something that looks like this (22).  To adjust the colors click on Effects > Tonal Control > Adjust Colors.  Use these settings (23), or ones close to them and click OK.
