CD Label Tutorial

Type rapartZ, inc. , select Dom Casual BT for the font.  Set the Size: to 40.0.  Type © 1999 rapartZ, inc.  All rights reserved. Use the Arial Bold font and set the Size: to 10.0.  Type Macintosh (press enter) & (press enter) Windows, use the Arial Bold font and set Size: to 12.0.  Be sure to click on the Center Type icon, found under Align:. Type NOZZLES FOR BETTER LANDSCAPES, again in Arial Bold and set the Size: to 16.0.  Save the file as CD_Master.  This file is your master file.  Close it and open it again to be sure everything works.  If you wish you can now delete the other versions.  Another reason for doing this is because when you begin to manipulate the text you may loose the powerful Dynamic layer capabilities.  Once you have used the Commit command your text becomes just like any other pixel-based layer.  Close the Custom Dynamic Text Layer palette.

In the Objects > Layers palette, double click on the ‘NATURE HOSEDynamic text layer, the dialog box will appear.  Click on the Baseline tab to expand the section (17). I changed the text color to Black for the following examples.  The text appears in the Straight Curve mode (A).  Click on the Reshape tool (top left icon) and select the Baseline Curve (3rd icon) under Curve Style. The text changes into a curve with a blue baseline with an End Point at each end (B).  Click on the right End Point and drag it to the edge of the E in HOSE. Drag the left End Point to the edge of the N in NATURE.  Your text will look like this (C).  Click on the right End Point and move the Control Handle towards the top center of the text, like this (D).  Do the same to the left side.  You may have to make some minor adjustments to get it just right.
