You can change the focus by creating 3 different layers, applying a sharp one to the top layer and softer ones to the underlying layers and erase a portion of the top layer showing a little softer focus and then erase the second layer to show the softest layer creating a nice illusion of depth of field.  You can do many different things to enhance this simple trunk.
