Press the ‘F’ key to access the Layer Adjuster tool.  Click once on the selection to create a layer.  Name the layer Trunk_1.  The trunk looks ok as is but you can enhance it by adding a shadow

Press the ‘Alt’ key, click once on the trunk layer to create and exact duplicate Name this layer Trunk_2.   Go to Effects/Tonal Control/Adjust Colors.  In the Adjust Colors palette move the Value slider to –50%.  Your layer will look similar to this (3).  In the layer mask erase a portion of the left side to create a shadow effect (4).

Select the original layer and duplicate it.  Got to Effects/Surface Control/Apply Lighting.  My lights look like this (5).  I erased the mask the get the look I want (6).
